Srinagar, June 22 (KNO) : The Cluster University Srinagar (CUS) has left the 4th semester B.Ed students high and dry as it has refused to reschedule the B.Ed exams which clash with the National Eligibility Test (NET) exams scheduled on the same date by National Testing Agency (NTA). The B.Ed students complained to Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that they have made preparation for prestigious NET exams for past more than six months and can’t afford to lose the opportunity to sit in the exams. The students said their exam is scheduled on June 26 which clash with the NET exam scheduled on same date. Notably, the NET exams commenced on June 20 and will culminate on June 28. “But it is sheer injustice with the students. The authorities in college of education Srinagar should reschedule the exams of June 26 for the benefit of students,” the students told KNO. They complained that the college principal was in hurry to complete the course without considering the difficulties faced by the students. “Since ours is the last batch and our college principal wants to get over the exams and discharge the students but we can’t appear in both the exams simultaneously,” the students said, adding that the college authorities should have notified the exam dates after going through the dates notified by NTA for NET exams during past months. Earlier, hundreds of 2nd semester students of B.Ed missed their exams as their date sheet for B.Ed second semester exams clashed with NET exams. These students are enrolled in various private B.Ed colleges affiliated with Kashmir University. The NTA scheduled NET exams had clash with the B.Ed exams scheduled by KU on June 21, 24 and 26, leaving hundreds of students in a dilemma. “We missed B.Ed exams as we had to appear in NET exams on same day. KU is paying with career of students,” Nisar, a student told KNO. The students said they approached the Vice chancellor Cluster University number of times but in vain. “He refused to help out the students and said dates can be modified on recommendations of concerned college principal,” the students said. Vice Chancellor, Cluster University Dr Sheikh Javaid was not available for his comments on the issue. (KNO)
